'Lapa Steps', Urban art created by a single artist, Jorge Selarón
Escadaria Selarón, locally known as the 'Lapa Steps' for being situated at the "Lapa" neighborhood, is a set of world-famous steps in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. They are the work of Chilean-born artist Jorge Selarón who claimed it as "my tribute to the Brazilian people".
It is a massive, globally recognized work of urban art created by a single artist, Jorge Selarón. It features over 2,000 brightly colored ceramic tiles hand-placed by the artist, drawing tiles from more than 60 countries, and has been featured in major international music videos and films.
