Mamajuana is the indigenous drink of the Dominican Republic. It is a brew of twigs and bark and herbs, with rum and red wine and honey. It is claimed to be an aphrodisiac for men, but also that it cures all of what ails you, purifying organs and acting as a medicinal supplement.

To make the authentic mamajuana, fill up with rum, red wine, honey, and a hint of cinammon, sweet clove, vanilla, and star anise, and ginger.

The sticks, leaves and roots in the bottle are from various plants and trees in the Dominican Republic such as Canilillea leaves. Guyacan plants and are used to fill about half of the bottle. Then about 90% of the remaining space in the bottle is usually filled with dark rum.
