Day 105, Friday, May 9 2025 - Eidfjord Norway
Eidfjord is a town in Norway nestled at the end of the Eid Fjord, a part of the much larger Hardangerfjord. It's known for its stunning natural beauty, including dramatic mountain scenery and waterfalls like Vøringsfossen.
Independent arrangements in Eidfjord to take a bus to the Vøringsfossen Waterfall.
Vøringsfossen is one of the most impressive waterfalls in Norway. With a fall of 182 meter,
the water cascades down the mountainside into the narrow and rugged Måbødalen valley near Eidfjord in the Hardangerfjord.
After the bus brought me back from the Vøringsfossen Waterfall to Eidfjord Norway, I bought a ticket for the Trolltrain and a 55 minutes tour of the Eidfjord area.
The train drives to the Hæreid terrace (100 metres above sea level) and passes by the largest prehistoric burial ground in Western Norway, with almost 400 burial mounds from the Iron and Viking Ages. The next stop was for a photo view over the fjord and Eidfjord. Then the Trolltrain drove to the Lægreid terrace with a stop next to the old historic 12th century church.
