Banjul is the capital city of the Gambia, a small West African country bordered by Senegal. The city sits on an island where the Gambia River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The Gambia is the smallest country in continental Africa.
I took the port shuttle bus to the Albert Market founded in the mid-19th century. The market is an area of frenzied buying, bartering and bargaining, has been Banjul's main hub of activity.
