Day 49, Friday, March 14 2025 - Buenos Aires, Argentina
HAL tour "Buenos Aires City tour with Boat Ride" with Cruise Specialists
The weather was great today for a HAL tour with Cruise Specialist (my travel agency). The “Buenos Aires city tour with boat ride” took about 5 hours with our first stop at the Recoleta Cemetery where we visited the grave of Eva Peron in her “Familia Duarte” mausoleum. We learned the history of Recoleta Cemetery with its paths lined with mausoleums and statues of Argentine families.
Our next stop was at the Plaza de Mayo, surrounded by the Casa Rosada (Government House) and the Metropolitan Cathedral. It was from the balcony of Casa Rosada that Juan and Evita Peron made public announcements.
Monument of General Manuel Belgrano at Plaza de Mayo has become a memorial to the victims of the Covid pandemic. Families put the names of lost loved ones on the stones and place them around the monument that is just in front of the presidential palace at Plaza de Mayo.
At the end of the tour, we boarded a boat that took us to San Telmo, oldest district in Buenos Aires, and walk along Caminto Street in La Boca (reputation as a birthplace of tango).
