Day 18, Tuesday, February 11 2025 - General San Martin (Pisco), Peru
HAL tour "Peru's Pisco & Wine Country"
Today I toured the Peruvian wine country in the Ica Valley, an oasis of many warm, rain-free days and good soil & Pacific Ocean breezes.
Tacama is one of the oldest vineyards in the Americas. A sommelier led us in tasting red, white, and sparkling wine. A locally produced cheeseboard accompanied my tasting.
A visit was made to Hacienda La Caravedo, the oldest distillery in the Americas (established in 1684). We tasted five different types of Pisco Porton.
Lunch of local cuisine and a Peruvian Paso horse show ended our tour before headed back to the ship.
