Day 87 - Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia

Tiki Tuhiva is a sculpture of two tiki on Tuhiva Hill that was inaugurated in 2017.

The tallest female tiki stands 12 meters high and overlooks the bay of Taioha'e. She is the the guardian of Tradition and Knowledge.

The smaller male tiki represents a warrior who is imposing his power. The work was conceived by Benoît Kautai, the mayor of Nuku Hiva, together with

a sculpture artist, Grégorio Grand-Midi, who carried out the work with the assistance of two Marquesan sculptors, Teve Teatiu and Touatini Matiki.
