Day 110 - April 22, 2023 - Oslo, Norway - National Museum
Painted in 1893, Edvard Munch Scream was donated to the National Gallery in 1910.
In terms of its fame, this painting now rivals works such as Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa (1503) and Van Gogh's Sunflowers (1888).
Munch painted four versions of “The Scream” from 1893 to 1910, depicting a skeletal figure on a bridge holding his face while screaming in agony.
In his diary, Munch wrote that the painting was inspired by “a gust of melancholy.” - melancholy is a feeling of pensive sadness, typically with no obvious cause.
