In 1770, Lieutenant (later Captain) James Cook landed at Botany Bay's Inscription Point. Cook and the Endeavour crew stayed in the area for eight days.
Cook recorded his landing at Botany Bay on the afternoon of Sunday 29 April 1770. Actual date was the afternoon of April 28.
